The upcoming 2023 Ford F150 will be the upgraded version of the 2023 model. Yes, the company plans on launching 2023 model as well as the 2023 one. According to plans, the 2023 model would offer a hybrid PowerBoost gas and electric combo, mixing V6 twin-turbocharged engine with 3.5 liter capacity and an integrated electric motor with 35kW performance – and auto 10 speed transmission.
As if it weren’t enough, there would be the 2023 model that would come with pure battery electric power to the engine’s option. It is even possible that Ford changes its name to F150 Electric or the Everglades (from Everglades, get it?)
Power and Performance
Now, the question is: will the electric powertrain affect the truck’s towing and hauling ability? According to the company and some sources, it doesn’t. The truck is still able to tow heavy loads quite perfectly and flawlessly.
A lot of people expect it to have motors on each axle, managing to reach 200 miles within a full charge of the big (battery) pack. If the company is able to ditch the unnecessary weight and the hypermile expectation, then the new ride may not be too disappointing.
After all, Ford has invested themselves in Rivian, the electric automaker. They claim that their R1T truck would be able to travel quite far, reaching more than 400 miles within its fully charge 180 kWh pack.
But then again, will the already existing frame of F150 would be able to accommodate the new battery pack? It’s the task that the company still needs to figure out. Ford still has a lot of work for their upcoming projects.
Redesigned Plans
The 2023 Ford F150 is on the way, and the existence of electric battery seems positive because the company has provided some teasers on the truck, at least on the exterior side. There have been several tweaks on the exterior side – as seen from the teasers.
It’s likely that the front end would have better aerodynamic efficiency. Expect closed-off grille, reworked lower side fascia, and different wheels, lower side skirts, and angles. More details aren’t known, but it shows something.
Engine Concerns
If everything goes as planned, the upcoming project may take place in Dearborn, one of the company’s manufacturing plants in Michigan. Rumor has it that the company has spent more than $700 million for the electric model and also the PowerBoost hybrid. Both of them are likely produced on that plant.
With the electric power, the truck will likely produce zero emission and with more power. Although they haven’t released any number concerning the emission, it seems that they are pretty confident about their new model.
For the new electric type, dual-motor powertrain is expected to make traction easier and better. It also helps with the acceleration (makes it faster) without compromising the ability to tow trailers. Sounds like a good deal, right? Well, auto enthusiasts can expect other features, such as improved frunk (front trunk), the power take off, and the less frequent needs for maintenance.
In the meantime, it would be useless to expect updates from the company. We can only wait for further release about 2023 Ford F150.
