As it was mentioned before, General Motors wants to create something to compete against Jeep Wrangler. And they finally decide to come up with Jimmy SUV with a touch of modern line. The name itself was used by the GMC, when they created Chevy Blazer. And now, the name Jimmy is used again for their upcoming model.
The decision to have body on frame SUV is to curb the increasing popularity of Jeep Wrangler. GMC needs to be clever about it, because they are going to deal with another heavy competitor from Ford with their Bronco. With such a clever construction, the company hopes that their new model should be able to attract offroad enthusiasts’ attention.
Design and Model
The 2023 GMC Jimmy is coming with mid-size pickup model – the same model supporting GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado pickups. They see the increasing trend where SUVs with truck-based construction is liked. Jeep is great but they mostly have high price. This is where GMC is hoping to get a platform – an attractive model that won’t cost a lot of money for the enthusiasts.
There are several images that may show the possible future designs for the car. There is an updated first generation Jimmy with newer style for the fenders, wheels, front end, and hoods. Rumors have it that several people have suggested that GMC should ditch the SUV and body on frame plan, and turn it to subcompact crossover. But the problem is, Buick Encore (Encore GX), is already implementing the same design – so it is going to be confusing and too much.
Price and Release Date
There is no further official confirmation from the company, so we can only guess. After all, it is highly possible that the company will start their production state in the following year – starting in 2023. For the pricing range, it is possible that the starting line would be around $30,000. But then again, we aren’t really sure about 2023 GMC Jimmy until we get the official release.
