It’s a good thing that 2023 Toyota Camry will go back to its original concept of a family ride. The car started out perfect as an amazing family sedan then transformed into an unknown four door vehicle. It’s a good thing that Toyota has decided to bring the line into its original state.
For the new line, the sedan would be coming with solid V6 engine and possibly hybrid option. Of course, there is TRD model where you can enjoy the sporty punch. And as a family sedan, there are more features to expect aside the punchy engine.
The (Expected) Updates
There would be small changes to the new Camry. Toyota will no longer make the L base model, so the LE would be the base trim – and the cheapest option too. There would be revised look on the front end, along with new wheel designs and paint colors.
On the cabin, there would be new table with touchscreen technology measuring either 7.0 or 9.0 inches. The sporty XSE is now offered with hybrid engine while the LXE luxurious model with get leather upholstery. Every trim will get sophisticated driver assist technology, including those to recognize pedestrians and bicyclists.
Prices and Trims
It is estimated that the base trim, the LE, would be sold at around $26,000. For the 2023 Toyota Camry SE trim, it would be around $27,000. For the XLE, it would be $30,500 while the XSE would be $31,000. The highest one, the TRD, is set for $32,000. The TRD would be the best with V6 engine, delivering 301 hp of power and auto 8 speed transmission.
The body comes with racy construction (complete with the prominent pair of exhaust tips and discrete rear spoiler). Other features for performance enhancement include the 18-inches black rims and bigger front brake rotors.
Performance and Powertrain
The standard powertrain is four cylinder engine paired with automatic 8 speed transmission. There is Camry hybrid with 2 electric motors and battery. The real deal is the V6 engine on XSE and XLE models – and also the TRD.
Camry is no longer a dull vehicle. The handling is responsive. The control is now amazing. With weighted steering, the sedan feels light and reliable during cornering or maneuvering. In high speed, the car is even better. But in lower speed, expect it to be a bit jerky.
Interior Control and Feel
Tests have been made on SE and XLE trims. Both of them are comfy and roomy – for the XLE, it feels luxurious and exclusive. However, Toyota has made it obvious about differentiating their entry level and the higher levels. They use different materials with different quality.
Being a big sedan has left Camry with many interior storage and also cargo space – both on the cabin and trunk. It may not be the best design or arrangement, but it’s a good deal for those wanting to have extra space.
In the end, the upcoming Camry sounds promising although not in the most extravagant way. But in a way, the 2023 Toyota Camry is worth waiting for – if you are willing to wait.
